Failed bridge causes concern for businesses, residents

ANCRAM — Ancram citizens circled under Friday morning’s snow to hear from town and county leaders about the fate of the Rockefeller Bridge on Hall Hill Road.

The Columbia County Department of Public Works shut down the 1920s bridge Monday after reports from the town of Ancram came in citing a 2 1/2 foot hole in the bridge’s deck.

The closure disrupts vehicle travel along Hall Hill Road, one of the major routes between County Route 7 in Ancram and Pine Plains, causing inconvenience for businesses, residents and emergency responders and great concern for Ancram residents.
